Improve Route Planning with Synergy Pickup & Delivery Study
Due to its effectiveness in assessing and improving route planning, Synergistic Systems is now offering its Synergy Pickup and Delivery Study software commercially. Synergy Pickup and Delivery Study marries a combination of packages to create a powerful planning engine. With multiple geocoding databases that provide pinpoint location accuracy, a mapping component for visual route assessments, and data control that allows complete flexibility in route design preferences, Synergy Pickup and Delivery Study creates routes for optimum efficiency.
Used internally by Synergistic to assess clients' route planning for over a decade, the simulation model designs static routes based on statistical averages and probability using past freight bill history. Route efficiencies generally improved from 5% to 50% when regenerated through Synergy Pickup and Delivery Study software. Because the software uses dynamic routing, accounts for route overlap and route volumes, and considers all available historical data, the multiple plans it designs respond to fluctuating business levels.
"It's been such a valuable tool for us and our clients, we decided it was time to offer it commercially," says Synergistic Systems' President, Lee Wintrode. "Our clients always found comparing their route plans to those generated by our software an enlightening experience. Armed with plans based on their historical data, they can meet varying business levels they experience on a day-to-day basis. And, when substantial mitigating factors occur, such as the addition of a new client with significant service requirements, new plans can be generated to most effectively address the new dynamic."

Symbol and Synergistics "Deliver the Goods" In Real Time
Synergistic Systems and Symbol Technologies teamed recently for their "Delivering the Goods" IT Conference, held at Symbol's Toronto offices. IT professionals from the trucking, logistics and manufacturing arenas participated in the well-attended conference, which focused on integrated mobile solutions offering real-time information delivery and location tracking accuracy.
Featuring Synergistic's mobile software solutions deployed on Symbol's rugged handheld pc, "Delivering the Goods" demonstrated the power of wireless communication as an enabling technology for the industry. The group enjoyed the success stories and product demonstrations presented by two of Synergistic Systems' clients.
Transfreight's Bob Hilhorst says his company has improved customer service and retention using a proprietary P&D application developed by Synergistic. The integration of real-time communications technologies means Transfreight dispatchers are confident when tracking freight and notifying customers, and are ahead of the curve in contingency planning.
Realizing capital system costs in 3 to 12 months, and cost center specific costing and resource usage, were among the critical benefits Lawrence Frederick of TNT Logistics has enjoyed with Synergy Yard Management. In addition, TNT Logistics has noted productivity increases using less assets and resources.
Attendees were enthusiastic about the capabilities for receiving real-time driver statuses, tracking locations accurately with GPS technology, and monitoring truck movements and speeds which are available in Synergistic's technology. Discussion of the ability to control the gate, monitor trailer arrivals and departures, and monitor non-company trailers with optional RFID tags with Synergy Yard Management was similarly met. Backed by Symbol's mobile hardware and black box technologies, attendees were glad to see that the systems could withstand the rigors of the inherently rough day-to-day work environment.

AAA Cooper to Install Synergy Cross Dock at Atlanta Service Center
AAA Cooper has purchased Synergy Cross Dock from Synergistic Systems with plans to install the application at their Atlanta service center. Synergy Cross Dock tracks freight from unloading inbound to loading and closing outbound freight. Freight is routed to the proper load door automatically, virtually eliminating misloads, which can cost a carrier as much as 5% of their gross revenues. OS&D (over, short and damaged) incidents are recorded on the dock at discovery, increasing accountability. Automatic reweighs, triggered from a flag in the pro record, can increase revenue by 5-10%.
Since AAA Cooper is already running Synergy Dispatch at their Atlanta service center, data transfer to and from the host mainframe is simple to implement. As a result of the efficiencies realized from implementing Synergy Cross Dock, AAA Cooper expects to combine their City and Linehaul operations into one dock, eliminating shuttles between the separate docks and the overhead of maintaining two facilities. AAA Cooper will roll out Synergy Cross Dock to many of their other terminals after the successful pilot program in Atlanta.
AAA Cooper Transportation is a less-than-truckload freight carrier based in Dothan, Alabama with terminals throughout the Southeast and is rapidly expanding toward Texas and the Midwest.
